Situated   at the head of Sithonia and is one of the villages belonging to the municipality of Poligiros. Gerakini is one of  the earliest cosmopolitan resorts of Halkidiki. Early in the last century was a small settlement of workers of the magnesite mine in the area. Its development began after 1960. 
On February 17 is the feast of Sts Theodore.

The seaport of   Poligiros, Gerakini, highly praised by the great Greek poet, Nikos Kavadias, who visited the village in one of his trips, awaits you mainly for family holidays. The great length of coast called "Skala Gerakinis" , where  cargo ships rest,  with clean and warm waters of the sea, the hospitality of its people and the pristine beauty of the landscape, gives your holiday special character.

In Gerakini beach there is a small market for shopping, paths for walks, playground on the beach, watersports, tavernas with fresh fish, ouzo and local delicacies, bars on the seafront to enjoy a drink or a coffee watching the sunset.
